Your position 

As an assistant professor, you can significantly impact Tilburg University and future generations. You will contribute to our research and teaching activities. Research in the department focuses on cognitive and clinical neuropsychology. The teaching responsibilities will revolve around the Internal Internship of the Master Clinical Neuropsychology. The internal internship aims to equip students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required for their future careers in the field of clinical neuropsychology. In short, the students learn how to record and interpret EEG measurements; apply neuropsychological batteries, and score and interpret the results; perform intake interviews and write neuropsychological reports; and design and prototype psychological interventions using technology. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to contribute to (segments of) this curriculum. You will collaborate with members within the department of Cognitive Neuropsychology and with many (also international) Master’s students.

Your responsibilities 

This is what you will be doing: 

You will work in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology, and will conduct research (appr 20% of the workload) and education (appr 80% of the workload). 

The main tasks will include:

  • Teach in the Internal Internship of the Master Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • Supervise BSc- and MSc theses
  • To initiate and perform academic research culminating in high-quality publications in leading journals in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • To pursue research-led impact to relevant professional and societal audiences.

  • A doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in the field of Neuropsychology, (Clinical) Neuroscience, (bio)medical sciences, or related areas or a closely related discipline
  • Good knowledge and experience in the application, scoring and results interpretation of Neuropsychological batteries
  • Experience in applied clinical (neuro)psychology is a plus
  • Proven teaching experience in the cognitive and clinical neuropsychology field or neighboring disciplines
  • Proven research expertise, visible through publications either in international high-quality scientific journals or an ambitious pipeline of (submitted) papers and contributions to academic conferences
  • Acquiring the Basic University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) of Tilburg University, if a similar qualification was not obtained already.
  • Team spirit: you feel part of a team and express this through collaboration, sharing knowledge and experiences, and contributing to an open and inclusive work atmosphere in an international working environment.
  • Learning Dutch after receiving tenure at the Cl level (Common European Framework of Reference - CEFR).

Your terms of employment

Your valuable contribution will be rewarded with attractive benefits and sufficient attention to work-life balance. Our offer includes:

  • A position based on 1.0 FTE (40 (38)hours per week)
  • This is a vacancy for a structural position in accordance with Article 2.3, paragraph 1 of the CLA for Dutch Universities and concerns a temporary employment contract with a view to permanent employment. You will initially receive a temporary employment contract for the duration 18 months (external candidates), with a view to permanent employment (assistant, associate, or full professor).
  • A salary ranging from a minimum of € 4,332 to a maximum of € 5,929 gross per month for full time employment, based on UFO profile Assistant Professor 2 and salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. 

In addition to your monthly salary, you will receive 41 vacation days (for a 40-hour work week), a holiday allowance (8%), and a year-end bonus (8.3%). We reimburse the full cost of sustainable commuting: walking, cycling, or public transportation. We have a moving expenses scheme that makes it attractive to live close to the university. You will be enrolled in the ABP pension fund through us. Our Options Model allows you to choose from a variety of facilities at a tax advantage. You can work in a hybrid manner: on campus and, for a reimbursement, from home. Researchers from outside the Netherlands may qualify for a tax-free allowance of 30% of their taxable salary if they meet the relevant conditions. The university applies for this allowance on their behalf.
