Postdoc In Ultrafast Spatiotemporal Microscopy of Layered Quantum Materials

We are currently looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for a new position within the Eindhoven Hendrik Casimir Insitute at Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands). In the project connected to this position, we aim to elucidate novel ultrafast heat transport phenomena in layered quantum materials using ultrafast spatiotemporal electron microscopy and photocurrent microscopy. The research will take place through a collaboration between the group of Jom Luiten, and the group of Klaas-Jan Tielrooij, which recently moved to Eindhoven. A background in ultrafast microscopy and/or photocurrent microscopy and/or electron microscopy and/or 2D materials and/or phonons and heat transport is highly appreciated.

Requirements:

  • Motivated researcher, with a PhD in physics, or a comparable domain
  • The ideal candidate would have experience in research on 2D layered materials and/or experience with ultrafast microscopy techniques and/or phonons and heat transport
  • Ability to conduct high quality academic research, reflected in demonstratable outputs.
  • A team player who enjoys coaching PhD and Master's students and working in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.
  • A proven ability to manage complex projects to completion on schedule.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) proficiency in English, good communication skills.
  • Independent and responsible.
