Description:

Our client is dynamic and fast growing company with leading edge products in the field of border control and identity solutions. They are now looking to recruit a motivated and capable Technical Support Specialist to work in their dynamic and fast growing environment.  Reporting to the Benelux Service Manager, this is a full time position, with split between field and office work. The role will be based in the Amsterdam Office.

The Technical Support Specialist will be required to undertake the following tasks and activities:

  • Mixture of routine system maintenance to ensure system is in correct working order and applying software fixes and updates.
  • Identifying faults both remotely and at sites.Responding to incidents and performing break/fix activities when errors and faults occur.
  • Liaising with customers on site and remotely and proactively communicating with the Service Manager, escalating issues and identifying areas where service can be improved.
  • Providing on site early life support and training users of the system.
  • Analysis of system performance in relation to business benefits.
  • Publishes articles on technical support issues in Company’s knowledge base.
  • Documents cases, recommendations, and resolutions clearly in the ticketing system
  • Collaborate with Technical Support, Sustaining Engineering and Sales Consultants to resolve highly complex technical issues associated with deployment.

Skills:

Technical Skills - Essential:

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, routing and switching, etc.);
  • Database administration fundamentals (setup, data queries, backup/restore);
  • Hardware diagnostic and repair experience with basic understanding of electrical and electronic components;
  • 2nd and 3rd level support experience;
  • Great troubleshooting skills;
  • Basic understanding of ITIL v3/2011.

Technical Skills – Highly Desirable:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electronics or related competency;
  • Fluency in English and Dutch
  • Scripting/Programming knowledge;
  • Electronic/Robotic fundamentals;
  • Basic understanding of Information Security principles, security protocols, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI);
  • Basic knowledge of biometric concepts and technologies;
  • ITIL Foundation v3/2011 certification.
