Our client is a highly respected and extremely prestigious global leader in the integrated energy and chemical industry.

Currently, we are looking for an experienced Indirect Tax Specialist to join our client’s dynamic, multicultural organisation in The Hague. 

Job Profile for Indirect Tax Specialist
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations. Maintain the VAT codes in the ERP system
  • Work closely with external tax service providers and advisors to ensure that tax calculations and filing activities are in line with both local and international tax laws
  • Provide expert advice on indirect tax issues to internal stakeholders, including the finance team and other departments. Help facilitate tax-efficient decision-making and ensure all tax obligations are met across the organisation
  • Play a key role in the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s tax control framework. Ensure that processes are in place for monitoring and mitigating tax risks
  • Support tax audits and litigation activities by preparing relevant documentation, communicating with tax authorities, and helping to resolve any tax disputes
  • Assist in the calculation, preparation, and timely settlement of tax payable obligations, working closely with internal teams to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Assist with the tax accounting processes, including ensuring accurate reporting of indirect tax liabilities and ensuring that tax provisions are appropriately accounted for in the financial statements
  • Support the process of Internal Controls on Financial Reporting for the tax unit and prepare balance sheet reconciliations

Candidate Profile for Indirect Tax Specialist

  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Taxation, or a related field is essential
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar finance or tax role
  • Relevant experience within an international corporate environment
  • In-depth understanding of VAT regulations: preparation, filing, and review of VAT returns, including relevant documentation and compliance
  • Proficient knowledge of SAP (S4H) for tax and financial management
  • Advanced Excel skills to analyse data and generate reports
