We are partnered with a global industrial powerhouse recognized for its innovations in heavy electrical equipment, energy infrastructure technology. As part of their effort to develop their own DC circuit breakers, we are seeking an experienced DC Circuit Breaker Expert to join as leader of their European R&D Center located in Arnhem, Netherlands.


As DC Circuit Breaker R&D Team Lead, you will lead the development of medium- and high-voltage DC circuit breakers, collaborating with top-tier universities and research institutions across Europe to bring innovative technology to rising market demands for MV/HV DC grids in the global power industry.


Responsibilities:





  • Lead development of MV/HV DC circuit breakers from concept through to product realization.

  • Design and improve ultra-fast actuators (e.g., Thomson coil-based systems) through electromagnetic coupling simulation and analysis.

  • Analyze DC circuit breaker topology and system design to optimize performance.

  • Develop system architecture for modular/unit-based power devices.

  • Establish and apply advanced measurement techniques to validate circuit breaker performance.

  • Coordinate collaborative research projects with European universities and institutions to secure key technologies and data.

  • Contribute to setting performance benchmarks and criteria, especially related to vacuum interrupter technologies.



Requirements:




  • 10+ years experience in DC circuit breaker development within the electrical power industry.

  • Hands-on knowledge in DC system design, simulation techniques, and actuator development.

  • Background in research collaboration with universities or national labs.

  • Demonstrated ability to architect complex power systems and acquire accurate data during testing.

  • Recognized academic or professional background in vacuum interrupter technology or DC breaking performance.

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

  • Availability to work on-site at the Arnhem office in the Netherlands.
