LinkedIn has compiled a “Jobs on the Rise” list for 2025 to show which roles in the Netherlands have become more in demand over the past three years.

Which jobs in the Netherlands are on the rise?

To compile the list of fastest-growing jobs in the Netherlands, LinkedIn’s Economic Graph Team looked at millions of new positions LinkedIn users filled between January 1, 2022, and July 31, 2024.

Positions had to meet several further criteria to be included in the ranking, such as seeing an increase in the number of members in these roles and abundant job postings. Internships, voluntary positions and student jobs were not considered.

According to the ranking, the most common position that Dutch companies are looking to fill is artificial intelligence engineer. This was followed by business director and information security officer, rounding out the top three.

Randstad and Amsterdam top locations for fastest-growing roles

As part of the study, LinkedIn also looked at the regions in the Netherlands where the largest percentage of workers were hired for trending jobs. Of the 10 top positions, the most common location for nine of them was the Randstad area, which includes Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht.

This should not come as a surprise as these are the largest Dutch cities that hold almost half of the population of the Netherlands. Even though the population growth in the Randstad dropped in 2024, many migrants still move to these areas for work.

Other top locations where hiring took place included Enschede and the Brabantse Stedenrij region, which includes Eindhoven, Tilburg, Breda and Den Bosch.

  1. AI engineer
  2. Business director
  3. Information security officer
  4. Client advisor
  5. Management advisor
  6. Payroll specialist
  7. Sustainability manager
  8. Learning and development specialist

  10. Mechatronics engineer
