DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes/EKS)
About this role
DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes/EKS)
You are a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with a strong expertise in Kubernetes and a passion for coding, fascinated by cloud computing and paving the way for others at scale. With this mindset, you are an ideal fit for us!
Your responsibilities
You work in an internal and geographically distributed team with cultural diversity and interact with other DevOps engineers and product owners. You play a vital role in our agile DevOps team. With your passion for Kubernetes, you take Swisscom's internal cloud platform to the next level.
What impact will you have?
You’ll help us build and run Swisscom’s next-generation Kubernetes platform, fully based on open-source and vanilla Kubernetes tech, providing internal teams with a secure, compliant, high-performance self-service environment. You’ll directly shape how applications and even virtual machines run at scale on a cutting-edge hybrid platform.
In an agile environment, your primary focus will be on building, operating and evolving our new Kubernetes platform based on vanilla Kubernetes and open-source technologies.
This platform leverages: Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform (KKP) for cluster lifecycle management, KubeVirt to run virtual machines alongside containers, Kube-OVN and FRRouting for advanced networking and routing needs and a baremetal foundation to maximize performance and control.
You ensure tenant onboarding, manage cluster deployments via KKP, and maintain cluster policies and governance (OPA/Kyverno). You develop automation scripts, operators and GitOps pipelines to standardize and scale platform operations. You contribute to the integration with the Swisscom Cloud Orchestrator to offer a seamless self-service experience.
You actively shape monitoring, alerting, and security practices across the platform stack. You thrive in an agile environment, collaborate closely across teams, and bring a strong continuous improvement mindset.
This team belongs to the "Shared Enabling and Platform Services" tribe, which is the Shared Service organization in Swisscom. Thanks to you, we can offer AWS as a fully-integrated, secure and compliant self-service platform to all Swisscom internal DevOps teams.
