There is much to celebrate in the food industry this week as 10 restaurants in the Netherlands have been awarded their first Michelin star and another establishment received its second. Eight Dutch restaurants were also presented with a Michelin Green Star for their commitment to sustainable gastronomy.

11 Dutch restaurants awarded new Michelin Stars

This week in Maastricht, 10 Dutch restaurants were selected for the esteemed honour of featuring in the 2024 Michelin Guide for the first time, while another was given its second Michelin star. With fewer new restaurants added to the list this year, the Netherlands didn’t manage to perform as well as it had in the 2023 guide, where 17 restaurants received Michelin stars.

While 2024 is another year without any new three-star restaurants, De Librije in Zwolle managed to hold onto its three Michelin stars. De Librije’s Chef Jonnie Boer continues to wow the Michelin inspectors with “a winning balance between his ode to the Dutch terroir and exotic influences, in his highly innovative cuisine”.

Another restaurant in the limelight is Inter Scalde in Kruiningen, Zeeland which earned its second Michelin star. Chef Jeroen Achtien was praised with “remarkable technical precision, know-how and creativity to consistently magnify the expression of natural flavours.”

Here are the 11 Dutch restaurants that were awarded new Michelin stars:

  • Inter Scalde, Kruiningen
  • Sabero, Leende
  • Triptyque, Wateringen
  • Lutum, Wijk bij Duurstede
  • Demain, Cadzand
  • Zenith, Apeldoorn
  • Restaurant Affect, Zwolle
  • Restaurant 1857, Roosendaal
  • Odille, Sint-Oedenrode
  • Restaurant Showw, Amsterdam
  • Joann, Enschede

The Netherlands boasts 122 Michelin-star restaurants

As of Monday, the Netherlands is home to 10 new Michelin-star restaurants located in various Dutch cities, while eight restaurants received the Michelin Green Star for “an unwavering commitment to more sustainable practices in gastronomy”.

The 15 Dutch restaurants which were awarded a Bib Gourmand also deserve some hype for their food as they are celebrated for offering “excellent value for money and generous cuisine”. Overall, the Michelin Guide for the Netherlands in 2024 includes 102 one-star restaurants, 19 two-star restaurants and one three-star restaurant, bringing the country to a total of 122. The Netherlands also has 23 Michelin Green Star restaurants and 83 Bib Gourmand restaurants.
