Did we say spring was coming? Well, don’t get your hopes up just yet; this weekend winds from the east will be bringing the cold weather back with them.
Towards the end of the week, winds from the east will enter the country, bringing the winter weather we thought we had gotten rid of right back to us. On Friday, rain is expected, but come Saturday, the cold winds may cause snow to fall.
The cold weather will likely stick around for a few days, during which the temperatures in the daytime will probably be just above 0C and no warmer than 5C. In the course of the night, temperatures will drop under freezing point and it may even be cold enough, under -5C, for a moderate frost to form.
The last time that it was this cold so far into March was in 2013. In that year, temperatures of almost 17C were recorded at Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) measuring point De Bilt on March 6. A week later, on March 13, 2013, temperatures plummeted to -7,4C.
