Hundreds of flights have been cancelled ahead of expected stormy weather heading towards the Netherlands’ east coast. In preparation for the storm, the authorities have upgraded their weather warning to Code Orange for the provinces of Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland and Zeeland.

KLM cancels hundreds of flights scheduled for the early afternoon

According to NOS, Dutch flag carrier KLM has cancelled all flights from the beginning of the afternoon. Flights from many other airlines are also cancelled due to the storm, which has already caused havoc across the United Kingdom and France.

Flights from other Dutch airports have also been affected, with the ED reporting that flights from Rotterdam are also being cancelled. Eurostar train services between Amsterdam and Paris have also been cancelled, including train numbers 9322, 9334, 9346, 9370, 9376, 9382 and 9394. Travellers are advised by Eurostar to change or postpone their journey, and those travelling by plane should check with their airline about rebooking.

Code Orange weather warning issued, ANWB advises working from home

As many people will have already seen, the ANWB yesterday advised people to work from home on November 2 to avoid being caught up in the storm, especially those who need to travel by car. The travel organisation stated that traffic jams and dangerous conditions could face drivers who head out during the storm.

The Code Yellow weather warning issued earlier in the week has been upgraded to a Code Orange in the provinces of Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland and Zeeland. Wind gusts in the east of the country are expected to get up to 110 km / h.
