The University of Amsterdam (UvA) has scored high in the Tilburg University Economics Ranking. The UvA is ranked 28th in the international list of the 100 best research institutes in the field of economics, six places better than last year.

There are four Dutch universities in the top 100:
› Tilburg University is ranked 23rd
› Erasmus University Rotterdam is 46th
› Maastricht University is 66th
› VU University Amsterdam is ranked 87th

The list is led by Harvard University, the University of Chicago, New York University and the University of California, Berkeley.

The ranking is an initiative of the CentER for Research in Economics and Business at Tilburg University and is based on publications by universities from 2005 to 2009 which have appeared in leading international economic journals. The database counts the number of published articles per university / year and which journal they appeared in.
