Sunny skies and warm temperatures on the way in October

By Victoria Séveno

After a fairly wet and dreary week of exceedingly autumnal weather, get ready to enjoy a few days of sunshine and warmth at the end of this week, with temperatures in the Netherlands possibly reaching as high as 20 degrees.

Hello sun, goodbye rain!

Ask anyone and they’ll be quick to tell you that the Netherlands didn’t really get much of a summer this year, and while September was, on the whole, a pretty dry and warm month, the first few days of October were anything but. You wouldn’t be blamed for losing hope of the chance of seeing the sun again this year, but the good news is that this week is set to bring some slightly nicer weather!

While Tuesday and Wednesday bring changeable conditions, with rain showers and cloudy skies expected for much of the country, Thursday will see things brighten up - literally - as the sun breaks through the cloud cover, with Friday and Saturday bringing dry and sunny weather, as well as temperatures of around 18 degrees to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague

Experts say the Netherlands can expect a dry October

Normally in early October, the Netherlands enjoys temperatures of 16 degrees, so the warm spell expected this week is definitely something to look forward to, and could also mark the start of what is looking to be a dry and mild autumn month.

Meteorologists at Weerplaza have warned that people should definitely prepare for the nights to get increasingly colder throughout the month, but have a rather optimistic outlook for October, hinting that it could be relatively dry and warm.
