Tropical weather is forecast for the Netherlands this week, with temperatures set to top 30 degrees celsius by Friday. However, where there is sunshine and heat, rain follows. The chance of heavy thunderstorms will also increase as the week continues.
Tropical temps and sunshine on the cards for the Netherlands
It has been the topic of many a conversation in the past few weeks: where is the summer weather? After the gloomy and mild weather we’ve been experiencing, the Netherlands can finally look forward to some good weather this week.
According to Weeronline’s weekly forecast, warmer air will arrive in the Netherlands on Tuesday, June 16. While the day will still be very cloudy with a few rain showers, temperatures will give us a peak of what to expect later in the week, rising to highs of 22 degrees celsius in the north and west, and up to 26 degrees in the southeast. And it will only get hotter from there.
Wednesday will see the sun shining much more often, with temperatures reaching up to 27 degrees. By Thursday, it will start feeling downright tropical with plenty of sunshine and temperatures ranging from 25 degrees to a toasty 30 degrees.
Thunderstorms likely to follow hot Dutch weather
The summer weather will peak on Friday and Saturday when temperatures rise to between 30 and 33 degrees. It will also feel “oppressively hot” due to high humidity, so you’ll want to make sure you have your fan handy!
As is typical in the Netherlands after some good weather, the chance of rain will increase with the rising temperatures. From Friday afternoon, heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible locally, so if you plan to make the most of the summery weather with a visit to the beach or a park, be sure to take a raincoat along with you.
