Information about the Self-study Beginners Basic A1 course with grammar

The online Self-Study Beginners Basic Course (A0>A1) is for anyone who has just started to learn Dutch. This online course is combined with an exercise book and a grammar book. The books will be sent to your home address.
The course consists of 12 lessons online and is accompanied by a lesson book and a grammar book. You do the course at your own pace. After finishing this course, it’s possible to join a Beginners Plus or Intermediate course. If you want to follow one of these courses, you will need to take an oral assessment by phone.
Every lesson consists of:
- Grammar: You can find the grammar online and in the grammar book
- Vocabulary: All the vocabulary that is in the textbook is spoken in the lesson and you can listen to it online
- Exercises: Online exercises and exercises in the textbook with online answers
- Songs: There are songs to listen to and gaps in the lyrics to fill in
Grammar Module, the online grammar module, contains the information of the grammar book and exercises, it gives you a perfect overview of the Dutch language.
Optional online lessons
If you want some extra help, or you would like to ask questions, Taalthuis offers optional online teaching sessions. During these sessions, you can talk with a Taalthuis teacher. The price for an online teaching session is 69,50 euros per hour.
About Taalthuis
At Taalthuis, you can follow courses at different levels, both online and face-to-face in a classroom. They aim to make learning a fun experience! Founded in 2006, Taalthuis now is a well-known language institute in the Netherlands for higher educated students. With lesson locations in six different cities in the Netherlands, Taalthuis makes it possible for expats, au pairs and international students to learn Dutch all over the Netherlands.
Taalthuis uses its own course materials at the Beginner and Intermediate levels. During the courses, you will be exploring all kinds of interesting subjects and current topics. Each lesson (online or face-to-face) guided by a teacher takes 2 hours and 15 minutes. Besides that, you need to spend about 3 hours weekly on homework. For the Advanced courses, the lessons are 2,5 hours and there will be more homework.
