Which municipalities in the Netherlands have the most and least affordable house prices?

With house prices hitting new record highs, it’s a good idea to know which areas will see you getting the most for your money when buying a house in the Netherlands. Luckily, mortgage advisor De Hypotheker has put a list together of the municipalities with the cheapest and most expensive house prices.
House prices in Dutch cities
The price of housing differs considerably depending on the city in the Netherlands. In one municipality, you may be able to get a detached house for the same price as a cosy little apartment in another city.
De Hypotheker used figures for the average price per square metre in different municipalities, to determine which Dutch cities are the most expensive and which are the cheapest for housing. It should come as no surprise that the most expensive city for a mortgage is Amsterdam at 7.187 euros per square metre, while the most affordable is Pekela at 1.995 euros per square metre.
