According to Parkopedia’s 2019 Global Parking Index, a city in the Netherlands is the most expensive city in the world for two hours of on-street parking. Any guesses as to which Dutch city we are talking about?
You’ve probably guessed correctly: it’s the country’s capital, Amsterdam. At an average cost of 14,61 USD, it is one of the few cities where it is actually cheaper (24%) to park in a garage than on the street! This can be explained by the fact that the municipality of Amsterdam wants to make the centre increasingly car-free.
Amsterdam isn’t the only Dutch city where it is expensive to park on the street; two more Dutch cities find themselves in the Top 25. Utrecht takes 5th place, while Rotterdam is in the 23rd spot.
