Skype has started to recover after problems originating from its supernodes, which are directories for finding users online.

Skype's engineers are working to resolve these issues while the company tweeted: "Some of you may have problems signing to Skype - we're investigating, and we're sorry for the disruption to your conversations."

Only 30% of Skype's userbase can access the service at the moment; an outage at a period when millions of people - including numerous expats - are using their service.
