Director Product Experience
About this role
Are you up for a challenge? We're looking for a Director Product Experience to shape digital and (connected) hardware product lines. At a pivotal moment for this tech Scale-Up, this hands-on leadership role operates across the entire product ecosystem.
As the Director Product Experience, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the brand's entire product line. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will lead a dedicated team of UX designers and own the vision, craft, and execution of the end-to-end experience across web, (connected) hardware, and the companion apps that unite them.
This is a highly unique role that operates natively across the entire product ecosystem. You will serve as the connective tissue between Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, Product Management, and Digital teams to ensure every product feels like one thoughtful, cohesive ecosystem. This is a hands-on leadership role moving seamlessly between conceptualization, rapid prototyping, design critique, and product execution.
Core Responsibilities:
- Strategic UX Direction: Shape and drive the comprehensive user experience strategy across both hardware and software, collaborating closely with the Product Leadership Team.
- Physical-Digital Integration: Partner hand-in-hand with Industrial Design to perfect the intersection of physical form and digital interfaces—owning ergonomics, physical button layouts, tactile controls, on-device UI, and the moments where hardware meets software.
- Ecosystem Coherence: Own the visual, graphical, and experiential design language across all devices and mobile applications, ensuring absolute consistency and brand integrity across every icon, asset, and interface.
- Design Systems & Standards: Build, maintain, and steward robust design systems that unify interaction patterns and visual assets across physical and digital platforms.
- Innovation & Tooling: Actively integrate AI-assisted design tools and emerging interaction paradigms into how the design team works and what they build.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Lead a small, high-caliber UX design team, fostering a culture centered on extreme attention to craft, personal accountability, and iterative execution.
Requirements
This is what you will need to be successful in this role:
- Deep Consumer UX Expertise: 10+ years of experience in consumer-facing UX design, with a proven track record of creating products that are emotionally resonant, not just highly functional.
- The Rare Cross-Discipline Designer: A leader who understands both physical and digital product constraints with equal care, recognizing that a physical device and its mobile application are a singular user experience.
- Hardware-Software Handoff Fluency: Direct experience working at the intersection of Industrial Design and UX, with the ability to confidently navigate design decisions before hardware specifications are locked down.
- Coalition Builder: A natural communicator who excels at building consensus and bringing clarity to complex, multi-disciplinary environments without relying solely on formal authority.
- Agility & Resourcefulness: Proven success building and guiding high-performing design teams within lean environments, remaining energized by constraints and the challenge of doing more with less.
- Forward-Thinking Tech View: Native understanding of how AI and emerging technologies alter what digital consumer products can achieve and how teams design them.
