French- and English-speaking Registration and General Affairs Officer (36 hrs.)
About this role
The Hague Academy of International Law, located on the premises of the Peace Palace in The Hague, is seeking a French- and English-speaking Registration and General Affairs Officer to join its Secretariat.
The Officer works under the supervision of the Secretary-General and the Deputy Secretary-General for Administrative Affairs, with the aim of taking charge of administrative and secretarial tasks and contributing to the organisation of the Academy’s programmes and events.
Main tasks:
- Manages the full registration process for the Academy’s programmes, including the assessment of applications and the preparation of standardised communications;
- Acts as the main administrative point of contact for participants and ensures timely and professional communication;
- Assists with mass communications, database set-up and maintenance, website updates, and the preparation of programme materials;
- Provides general administrative support to the Secretariat, notably for the organization of its programmes and activities, including office management and participant-related assistance;
- Carries out any other administrative tasks deemed necessary.
An initial temporary contract of 6 months (sickness replacement), which may be renewable, will be offered for this position.
The monthly gross salary, based on the institution’s salary scale, is €3,330 gross for a 36-hour workweek.
A valid full-time work permit for the Schengen area is required for this position.

Requirements
For this position, The Hague Academy of International Law is looking for a candidate with the following profile:
- Excellent command of French and English; Spanish is an asset;
- Proactive, flexible and versatile;
- MBO+ level or secretarial education; organisational and event experience are assets;
- Available to work during the Summer Courses period (5 July – 13 August 2026), the Centre for Studies and Research (17 August – 4 September 2026), and the Winter Courses (11–29 January 2027). Other periods are to be discussed according to the annual programme.
