PastBook is coordinating a massive, all-inclusive public online gallery of the best photos and stories to come out of Queen’s Day, as contributed by local Dutch and Expats, to be published as an online e-book and printed in hardcopy.

The "orange craze"

On April 30, 2013 about 16 million Dutch, and another 500.000 expats, will celebrate the last Queen’s Day for the foreseeable future, as Queen Beatrix officially abdicates after 33 years to pave the way for King Willem-Alexander.

The usual wild celebrations will be doubled in this historic once-in-a-lifetime event, with a multitude of local cultural activities, amazing street performances, the biggest open flea market in Europe, royal boat parades, and millions of people partying in the streets.

The Dutch take enormous pride in their nationality and their beloved monarchy on this day, as evidenced by the unanimous display of orange costumes and decorations in a world-famous phenomenon known as "orange craze."

Expats however will not be left out, as they are represented by the new Queen-to-be, Princess Maxima (originally from Argentina) - arguably the most famous, important and popular expat in the Netherlands right now.

This event provides a unique opportunity for both locals and expats from around the world to unite and publicly share their love of this quirky, orange, flat country.

To celebrate Queen's Day, PastBook.com is launching the first collaborative photobook made by complete strangers, the "We Love Holland" PastBook. This is a chance to show the entire world how to party like the Dutch!
