The world famous collection of Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum is temporarily housed at the Hermitage Amsterdam until April 2013.

To mark the relocation, the museum has organised a special interactive art walk, the Van Gogh Mile.

This artistic journey gives visitors a unique way to discover Van Gogh's work with three segments; the (free) Van Gogh Mile app, the 'Red Line' and creative sound installations.

Each portion adds a different dimension to the the artist's images, while showcasing themes from Vincent van Gogh’s letters to his brother, Theo.

The "Red Line"
Inspired by Amsterdam’s cityscape, multidisciplinary artist Henk Schut designed the "Red Line."

Five meters high, the "Red Line" connects the two cultural hearts of Amsterdam, from Museumplein to the Hermitage Musuem on the Amstel River.

The route continues for 1,4 miles (2,25 kilometres) with a walking tour integrating Van Gogh’s Amsterdam with modern time, while combining text, audio and images all inspired by letters written by Vincent van Gogh.

Participants can see Amsterdam from a new perspective, one that will continue to evolve throughout the seven month relocation of the Van Gogh Museum.

Along the way, visitors have the opportunity to engage in amazing installations and virtual representations giving way to creative scenes like Museumplein filled completely with the bright sunflowers famously painted by Van Gogh himself!
