Ever wanted to know more about what happens behind the scenes at one of the largest train stations in the Netherlands? National Geographic is set to release a documentary series that shows the ins and outs of Amsterdam Centraal Station with the first episode airing in April.
The first of six episodes of the docuseries titled Amsterdam Centraal 24 / 7 will be released on National Geographic on April 17, 2025 at 9.30pm. Viewers can expect a behind-the-scenes look at the 135-year-old building and its employees throughout the TV show.
From Pride Amsterdam to the Dutch Grand Prix and King’s Day - viewers will follow along as workers tackle the busiest periods at the station. According to AT5, the series produced by Goya Productions will star a kiosk employee who has worked at the station for 27 years, the station manager and two security and service employees.
Additionally, the show made in collaboration with NS and ProRail will also cover the history of the station building as well as the long-term renovations that have been underway for over a year.
“We are currently carrying out the largest renovation in the history of Amsterdam Centraal station. At the same time, the station remains open and is used by hundreds of thousands of passengers every day. That brings enormous challenges,” Harro Homan, regional director at ProRail told Het Parool. Around 200.000 people travel by public transport via the station in Amsterdam every day.
