About the exhibition

Foam presents a solo exhibition by Bertien van Manen (1942), an Amsterdam-based photographer who travels frequently through Eastern Europe and Asia.

"Let’s Sit Down Before We Go" gives you a unique glimpse of Eastern European life during the period 1991 - 2009, through intimate photos. The title refers to an old Russian custom that suggests you to take a moment and think about where you come from, where you are going, and why, before you leave on a journey.
