About Unseen Photo Fair
Quickly emerging as the photography event in Amsterdam, the Unseen Photo Fair annually features the work of more than 50 galleries and over 160 photographers at the Westergasfabriek. Over the course of four days, Unseen presents not only a full fair of undiscovered talent, but also an accompanying festival programme highlighting issues in contemporary photography. In the past few years Unseen has separated themselves through both the quality of their curation and the content of the debates, lectures and discussions.
The daily Unseen Talks programme features the artists themselves confronting issues in their own work and their artistic field, ranging from the changing state of contemporary photography to the minute details of specific techniques.
Although constantly expanding, Unseen manages to maintain a focus on emerging talent, as evidenced through the Unseen Niches and Unseen Collection, both of which serve to shift the control of the fair to the artists.
For the 2014 edition, Unseen continues to reach new heights by premiering more than 30 works, examining the Japanese concept of "animism" in a special exhibition and hosting a series of Unseen Talks with the likes of Lorenzo Durantini, Hito Steyerl and Daniel Gordon, among others. The Unseen Photo Festival is an invaluable platform for emerging photographers, artistic expression, dialogue and invites visitors from all walks of life to be inspired through photography for at least a weekend!
