About the exhibition
De Hallen Haarlem is staging a major exhibition that focuses on the sea in Dutch art from 1850 to the present. It is an overview of different approaches to and interpretations of the subject.
The exhibition features works by artists such as Hendrik Mesdag, Bernard Blommers, Jozef and Isaac Israëls, early Modernists like Jan Sluijters and Jan Troop, as well as more recent artists like Edgar Fernhout, Co Westerik, Jan Dibbets and Rineke Dijkstra.
