Amsterdam Light Festival

The Amsterdam Light Festival is getting ready to brighten up the darkest days of the year!

Dazzling Amsterdam

The Amsterdam Light Festival is a grand initiative, creating a dazzling atmospheric background in the historic centre of Amsterdam during winter.

The festival presents light sculptures and projections by Dutch and international artists in the public space. 30 artworks have been selected from 900 submissions by over 1.800 artists.

Water Colors and Illuminade

Two special boat and walking tours follow the trails of installations that can be found during the Amsterdam Light Festival. Water Colors is a specially organised boat tour that will take visitors over the canals and present them with colourful, contemporary light art by the waterside that meanders through Amsterdam's historic downtown.

The Illuminade walking tour is for those who want to check out the festival on foot. Interaction with the artworks will play an important role on this tour!

Plan your tour of Amsterdam

For 53 days you can enjoy the Amsterdam Light Festival on foot, by bike or by boat. You can either take in the light installations by yourself or by booking a tour with the official festival partners. Browse the Amsterdam Light Festival website for the most up-to-date information.
