Fewer trains running to and from Schiphol for 12 days from Monday

ProRail has announced that there will be fewer trains running to and from Schiphol from February 26 until March 9 due to work taking place on the tracks. This means the train schedule to Schiphol Airport will be adjusted for 12 days.

Track maintenance around Schiphol Airport

ProRail, the organisation responsible for the Dutch railway network's maintenance, renewal, expansion and safety, will be renewing the tracks around Schiphol. Work will also be done on escalators, stairs and ramps of the train station, which they plan to have completed before the summer holidays.

Planned track maintenance has been spread over six years and ProRail is now two years into this plan. This means that there will be more railway disruptions for travellers in 2024 and the following years. 

Future work on Schiphol Airport train station

More work is planned for the tracks around Schiphol in March, May and November this year. The train station at Schiphol Airport is busy, in terms of both public transport and passengers. According to ProRail, this is why it needs to be well maintained. “We do this with the Major Maintenance Schiphol project. This will ensure that the railway tracks and tunnels can last another 40 years,” explained ProRail.
