Maintenance work is being carried out at Amsterdam Centraal on March 7 and 8. No night trains will run to, from and via the main station in the Dutch capital during this weekend, and there will be limited train traffic during the day.
No trains running at night from Amsterdam Centraal
While ProRail is busy with maintenance on the weekend of March 7 and 8, night train services at Amsterdam Centraal will be cancelled and there will be fewer trains running during the day from Amsterdam to Alkmaar, Amersfoort, Breukelen, Haarlem, Schiphol Airport/Hoofddorp, Uitgeest, Utrecht and Weesp.
Replacement buses will be running at night instead. Trains that usually travel to and from Amsterdam Centraal will turn around at the Muiderpoort and Sloterdijk stations. NS advises passengers to consult the journey planner before departure and expect longer travel times.
Train disruptions expected in Amsterdam due to maintenance
During the day, there will be limited train traffic around Amsterdam Centraal and several track changes as tracks one and seven will be out of service. Passengers can use NS train tickets on the metro until 9.20am on Saturday.
ProRail will be busy with cable installations and replacements this weekend, and work is being done on platform five. This is not the first time the main station in the Dutch capital has seen disruption and it won’t be the last. When announcing the train timetable for 2026, NS warned that major maintenance work would cause timetable changes and disruptions this year.
