Are you an art student preparing for admission to a prestigious art academy? Do you need a strong portfolio that will guarantee your entrance?

Meet Maria Aristotelous, an experienced professional artist, who assists students who want to study in an art academy and need to learn how to create a successful portfolio or improve their current one.

Portfolio development classes & lessons

A properly organised and carefully prepared (in terms of artistic quality and depth) portfolio is probably the most crucial factor for ensuring admission to academies either in the Netherlands (such as Rijks Academy, KABK, Willem De Kooning Academy, Gerrit Rietveld Academy and Utrecht School of the Arts) or abroad (such as Pratt, RISD or the Royal College of Arts in London).

The proper tutoring and careful development of a new artist lie at the very heart of Maria's workshops and classes, constituting their main purpose and objective.

Indicative subjects

Depending on the students’ direction, the classes may cover:
› Drawing (still life, landscape, figure drawing) with pencils, charcoal, ink, acrylic, etc.
› Oil painting (still life, landscape, figure, abstract, etc.)
› Acrylics
› Abstract art (Action painting, Colour Field painting, Suprematism, Symbolic Abstract, etc.)
› Sound art (installations, programming, etc.)
› Visits and lessons in museums
› Printmaking
› Art installations and sculpture
› Collage
› Details of portfolio making such as format documentation, choice of paper and organisation
› Exercises that develop artistic consciousness (the art of viewing, hearing, etc.)
› Discussions and evaluations of the different stages of the student’s development

Attendance

Workshops are offered either privately (one-on-one basis) or in very small groups (2-3 people max.).

Classes for amateur artists who do not necessarily want to enter an art academy are also offered on an individual basis or for very small groups (2-3 people max.).
