Accounts Payable Specialist | Dutch | Utrecht

Our client is an international company with operations in the Netherlands. They are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join their Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing supplier invoices, payments, reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with Dutch financial regulations, including VAT and tax requirements. This is a permanent, full-time position.

• Process and verify supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding, approvals, and compliance with Dutch financial regulations (incl. BTW/VAT).


• Prepare and execute regular payment runs, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors.


• Perform reconciliations of accounts payable, bank statements, and credit card transactions.


• Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records.


• Support month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing accruals and reconciliations.


• Assist with VAT, tax, and other statutory reporting requirements.


• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve invoice discrepancies or payment issues.


• Support audits and provide documentation when required.


• Contribute to continuous improvement of AP processes and controls.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).


• 1-2 years of experience in Accounts Payable or similar finance role, preferably in an international company.


• Knowledge of Dutch financial practices and regulations, including tax and VAT.


• Proficiency in Dutch at B2-C1 level (written and understanding), and business fluent English.


• Strong administrative and IT skills; proficiency with Excel is required, ERP system experience is an advantage.


• Accurate, detail-oriented, and able to work to deadlines.


• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.


• Team-oriented but also able to work independently with responsibility.
