A team of recent graduates from TU Delft have launched a brand new platform designed to help expats and international students in the Netherlands discover and sign up for a wide range of sport, art and recreational activities in their local area.

Activities and workshops for expats in the Netherlands

Launched in June 2022, Step Out is the brainchild of a team of former students of the university in Delft. Co-founders Nihal Ashok and Aditya Kolari set out to establish a way that helps internationals in the Netherlands “experience the local culture while meeting new people through [various] activities.”

The key goal of the online platform and expat-oriented community is to make it easy for new arrivals in the Netherlands to find and register for any activity that piques their interest. “We want to get people going and keep them moving,” the Step Out website explains. “We contribute to a healthier, creative and more active society by empowering everyone to improve their lives with sports, fitness and creative thinking.”

Sign up for ceramics workshops or surfing lessons

The start-up is still in its early stages, so far focusing predominantly on activities and events in the Delft area - everything from kayaking and surfing, to Bollywood dancing and ceramic design.
