A library in Eindhoven has come up with a new initiative to get its residents back into hardbacks.

What can you expect?

The book box, costing 14,95 euros, includes three titles selected by a specialist team from the categories: feel-good, young adult, literature and thriller. You can select your genre preferences online.

On offer are brand-new books, unread and less than three months old, so that new book smell is guaranteed.

Packages will be hand delivered on Tuesday evenings or Wednesday afternoons by library staff, who will also collect them from your home after three months. Once your books have been collected they will become a part of the library collection.

Too much for Eindhoven residents

Libraries in Eindhoven have been disappearing, with local people forgoing a trip because they find the library too far away or because they do not want to commit to a yearly subscription. This service makes it easy for residents to utilise what the library has on offer, as they do not need to travel or already have a membership.

The pilot phase is currently taking place and if it proves to be a hit, it will be developed further. Take a look at the service online here (in Dutch).
