We Make the City is an impressively large city festival, comprising 600 speakers, 150 locations, 25 themed conferences, 30 urban talks, 50 workshops, 30 city expeditions, 15 special events 10 exhibitions and 30.000 participants! It celebrates city living and addresses the key urban issues of our time in Amsterdam.

It poses questions such as: how can we make Dutch cities better? In what kind of city do we want to live, in five, 10 or 15 years from now? We Make the City helps us find the answers to these questions because together we make the city of the future.

A festival that makes cities better

We Make the City is a festival that makes cities better. For seven days in a row the event tackles urgent everyday challenges in the urban environment, together with audiences and experts, spread across different locations in the Amsterdam metropolitan area.

With lectures, film screenings, expositions, performances, urban expeditions, games, workshops, expert meetings, conversations, labs, maker spaces, and an attractive and active weekend programme for a large and wide audience, We Make the City welcomes you.

You might be wondering who the event is aimed at. We Make the City is for residents of Amsterdam and its metropolitan area, residents of other Dutch cities, and European cities and the rest of the world. 

Plan your visit to We Make the City

Plan your visit by booking your tickets in advance on the We Make the City website. The regular festival pass is 10 euros. There are hundreds of events to choose from with this pass, but it’s important to reserve your place in advance because the festival gets booked out quickly.

When you show up at the festival, your ticket allows you to get the festival wristband and festival booklet, which gets you into the activities much more quickly. Please be aware that for certain events, you will have to buy separate tickets.
