Masterly The Hague is the festival of old Dutch masters paintings and Dutch design. In the museum quarter, visitors can lose themselves in the fascinating history of The Hague with an art-rich narrative, as the venues are as impressive as the exhibits themselves.

Masterly The Hague locations

The exhibition venues are located in the district of the Binnenhof and the Hofvijver - the iconic and historic inner-city Dutch government buildings of The Hague. These magnificent buildings are not to be underestimated and have been very significant in Dutch history. The Kings Ballroom, Hotel Des Indes Historical Rooms and Mauritshuis are the main venues!

The others, namely Lange Vijverberg 14-16, are three adjoining houses dating back to 1750, which were previously the home of the Frisian court and the residence of the Stadholders of Friesland – basically some direct ancestors of the present-day Dutch royal family.

Old and new side-by-side

Masterful curation is very much apparent at this event. Alongside the masters' paintings from the Dutch Golden Age, there will be combinations of contemporary art along with 17th and 18th-century art. Many of these works of art were created especially for the event. Others were chosen with impeccable care, resulting in an authentic experience at this celebration of Dutch art.

After attending Masterly The Hague, you’ll most likely look at old master paintings and Dutch design in a fresh, new light.
