Every year, Utrecht becomes a hub of classical music performances as the Tivoli Vredenburg welcomes some of the most sought-after musicians to perform on its renowned concert stages.
Chamber music in the heart of the Netherlands
International Chamber Music Festival is a yearly celebration of world-class chamber music in the heart of the Netherlands. Music aficionados from all over the Netherlands flock to Utrecht to listen and see some of the world's most distinguished classical music performers in action in unique and charming venues all across Utrecht.
For five years, the festival has been an important mainstay of the summer classical roster and in 2021, it will take place in summer, once again. In 2020, the festival is taking place in its original winter timeslot, so it will be an important occasion for your Christmas holidays. And, while coronavirus measures mean the event can't be held with a live audience, you'll still be able to enjoy the musical spectacle via live streams and radio broadcasts.
Janine Jansen & Friends
Pre-eminent Dutch violinist Janine Jansen is the artistic leader of the festival, along with Amihai Grosz, and has curated an impeccable programme of chamber works performed by some of the big names in chamber music.
This year, the artists are Dutch-based. Although the festival is international in scope and typically brings musicians from all over the world, 2020 is definitely not an ideal year for flying musicians in from other countries. That's why the 2020 edition of the festival will focus on home-grown talent.
The musicians on this year's roster include:
- Animato Quartet
- Berlage Saxophone Quartet
- Kalle De Bie
- Tim Brackman
- Camerata Trajectina
- Jordi Carrasco Hjelm
- Amsterdam Cello Octet
