Every year, Utrecht becomes a hub of classical music performances as the Tivoli Vredenburg welcomes some of the most sought-after musicians to perform on its renowned concert stages. 

Chamber music in the heart of the Netherlands

International Chamber Music Festival is a yearly celebration of world-class chamber music in the heart of the Netherlands. Music aficionados from all over the Netherlands flock to Utrecht to listen and see some of the world's most distinguished classical music performers in action in unique and charming venues all across Utrecht.

For five years, the festival has been an important mainstay of the summer classical roster. Now, in 2019, the festival is moving back to its original winter timeslot, so it will be an important occasion for your Christmas holidays.

Janine Jansen & Friends

Pre-eminent Dutch violinist Janine Jansen is the artistic leader of the festival and has curated an impeccable programme of chamber works performed by some of the big names in chamber music.

Concert highlights

International Chamber Music Festival will kick off with the opening concert featuring Janine Jansen and friends, performing chamber music from the standard repertoire. Throughout the four days, you can hear hidden gems inside a windmill or set off on a walking tour concert around Utrecht!

International Chamber Music Festival venues

The International Chamber Music Festival concert programme gives you the opportunity to explore many magnificent buildings in Utrecht! The impressive multi-storey concert venue Tivoli Vredenburg serves as the heart and soul of the festival.

That’s not all: concert venues during the festival include many locations steeped in history: Bartholomeus Gasthuis, Fundatie van Renswoude, Geerte Church, Nikolai Church, Grand Hotel Karel V, the Cervantes Institute opposite the famous Dom Tower, as well as the chapel inside the tower, De Ster windmill, Palladio and Sonnenborgh observatory museum.

There are children’s concerts with instrumentalists collaborating with other disciplines, especially for children aged two to five.
