Eastern Neighbours Film Festival presents the best recent films from East and Southeast Europe, from the countries with a small but often powerful cinema production. It brings current fiction feature films as well as meaningful documentaries from around 15 countries. The Festival presents mostly Dutch premieres and introduces new talents and remarkable cinema voices that deal with relevant topics in an exciting and thought-provoking manner.

The 12th edition of ENFF is going to be held mainly online from November 4-15, 2020 via Picl platform.

BUT! Despite the large number of films you can watch online, a small selection of family films - with English subtitles! - can be seen at the ENFF home base: Filmhuis Den Haag.

Family films

Here are some of the family films being featured during ENFF Filmweekend at Filmhuis Den Haag:

Rock-n-roll Eddie (Tomasz Szafrański, Poland)

An entertaining and adventurous family film about two children who accidentally take Rock-and-roll Eddie from another world. Eddie is chased by the police and to save him they have to find a way to send him back to where he came from.

The Pig (Dragomir Sholev, Bulgaria)

In this touching family drama we see the 13-year-old Rumen. He is bullied every day at school, but he manages to ignore the bullies. Until one day it becomes too much for him and he turns away hard...

Negative Numbers (Uta Beria, Georgia/France/Italy)

Story of a juvenile detention centre in Tbilisi where two ex-professional rugby players took up the challenge to help these young offenders by bringing rugby into the centre. While training the young inmates, they wrote down their stories, which inspired the film.
