Christmas concert at Muziekgebouw with Concerto Copenhagen
Muziekgebouw has a tradition of giving special Christmas concerts, and this year is no different. In the weeks before Christmas, listen to an international programme, featuring classical Italian, exuberant Latin-American swing and a fully “contemporary” Bach Christmas Oratorio.
In this special festive concert, the award-winning Danish ensemble performs a predominantly Italian programme, with music by Corelli, Stradella and Scarlatti, but also famous masterpieces by German composers Pachelbel and Handel.
A Christmas concert to remember with Concerto Copenhagen
For early music-lovers, Christmas is not complete without a performance of the Christmas concertos by the Italian composers Arcangelo Corelli and Guiseppe Torelli. The widely acclaimed Concerto Copenhagen plays them in this special baroque programme.
For almost thirty years, Lars Ulrik Mortensen's ensemble has been at the top and excels with swinging performances in small line-ups. At Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, the affectionately named “CoCo” ensemble also made a big impression with Bach's Hohe Messe and Handel's Brockes Passion, among others - an unforgettable prelude to Christmas.
The Christmas cantatas by Alessandro Scarlatti give space to the enchanting star soprano Dorothee Mields.
Concerto Copenhagen, Scandinavia’s leading early music ensemble
Concerto Copenhagen is Scandinavia’s leading early music ensemble, bringing vibrancy back into early music, combining a repertoire of well-known European music with less familiar musical works. Bach's Brandenburg concertos were hailed "True Brandenburg boogie," by the Neue Presse Hannover, referring to Concerto Copenhagen's rendition of these now renowned works.
