Amsterdam Fashion Week
Amsterdam Fashion Week (AFW) is a twice-yearly event, celebrating Dutch fashion through runway shows, presentations and talks. Amsterdam Fashion Week embraces young talent but also offers established designers and existing labels a platform through which to impart innovative ideas in fashion.
Amsterdam Fashion Week started in 2004 as an initiative to put Amsterdam on the map as an internationally oriented destination for fashion. Experience Amsterdam becoming the centre point of the fashion world this September, with a full schedule of catwalk shows, trade fairs, presentations, lectures and parties.
Fashion Week off-schedule programme
The Amsterdam Fashion Week show programme is by invitation and for professionals only and attracts a growing audience of directional international brands, buyers and press.
However, AFW Studio is the "off-schedule" programme of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week and welcomes everyone to enjoy what AFW has to offer. AFW Studio is the world's first Fashion Week programme that is also open to the public.
Daniel Bles, director of Amsterdam Fashion week: "I am a person who really likes variety, I want to continue to surprise myself and others. By maintaining two concepts, there is the freedom to respond to what's current. The overarching goal for both editions remains to look up relevance and bring fashion closer to the public."
Four days of fashion excitement in Amsterdam
Enjoy four days of fashion excitement: exhibitions, shows, launches, parties and much, much more! All the AFW Studio events are organised in collaboration with local museums, galleries, designers, clubs and shops.
AFW provides a platform for the finest and best that the Netherlands has to offer in the world of fashion, "celebrating" the creativity, glamour and magic that fashion can generate.
