WorldTalks | Flavors of Amsterdam programme

Here's what you'll experience within the Flavors of Amsterdam programme:

Jonneke de Zeeuw

Jonneke de Zeeuw aka "Queen of Culinary Treasures", knows all the hidden culinary pearls in town. Via her platform Mooncake, food tours, articles and vlogs, she shares the dishes and places you've got to be acquainted with before you leave this planet and the reasons why! No trendy hotspots or chic restaurants, but places that are often surprisingly underexposed. From Syrian specialities to the secret of the best baklava in town, what are her favourite flavours of Amsterdam?

Gabriël Ercicia

Gabriël Ercicia is the programme manager for Huis Van Alle Talen (House Of All Languages) at the Public Library Amsterdam. This unique co-creation concept combines a multilingual book and media collection with matching cultural activities like spoken word. The aim is to activate a free flow of information and, most importantly, create an understanding between cultures and communities. How do they empower different cultures via storytelling?

Chad Bilyeu

Chad Bilyeu - "serial entrepreneur" and illustrator - is the founder of Chad in Amsterdam: an autobiographical comic book adventure of an atypical American who ended up in Amsterdam. A Cleveland native, he started the series of comic books, which, by creating scenes of humour-filled alienation, explore how one’s identity changes based on where they live, especially in relation to where they’re from. What’s his view on Amsterdam? And which stories and anecdotes does he highlight as a "new Amsterdammer"?

Angélica Dass

Angélica Dass is an award-winning photographer living in Madrid, Spain. She is the creator of the internationally acclaimed Humanæ Project, a collection of portraits that reveal the diverse beauty of human colours. The initiative has travelled to more than 30 countries across six continents to promote dialogue that challenges how we think about skin colour and ethnic identity.

Kirsten Berkx

Kirsten Berkx will open the evening with a spoken word performance.
