Wet is a theatre play about porn, female friendship and self-realisation. Created by the feminist theatre group Screw Productions, this is the play’s Dutch premiere, at Perdu in Amsterdam.
The play is co-written by Bryony Cole and Grace Carroll, who first sent out an anonymous survey asking women to give their views on porn.
Using their research based on the overwhelming 150 responses, the play began to take shape, resulting in a gripping story.
The story follows two female characters who are frustrated about their less-than-successful careers as filmmakers, the exorbitant cost of living in London and their sex lives. They take action by deciding to create a feminist porn film. The process proves to be an adventure, in which they discover new things about their own personal desires and sexuality.
The four performances at Perdu are as follows:
The play has seen plenty of success following its London premiere. Additionally, extracts of Wet were performed at Herstory: A Feminist Theatre Festival and at E & C Writer’s Night. A draft of the play was selected to be read at Ink or Swim at the Hope Theatre.
The Dutch premiere of the play takes place at Perdu in Amsterdam. Tickets to Wet are available on the Perdu website. Visit the Screw Productions website for more information about the play and the theatre company.
