Unseen is back, bringing the most ground-breaking and innovative emerging artists from across the globe to Amsterdam.
Unseen Amsterdam, the leading platform for contemporary photography, is back for its sixth edition. Focusing exclusively on what’s new in the world of photography, Unseen gives up-and-coming talents a platform to show their work.
Unseen Amsterdam invites over 50 galleries from all over the world to present new work at the Fair. Unseen connects and inspires artists, curators, collectors and photography enthusiasts on an international level. In addition to the Fair, Unseen has an interactive on-site and city programme.
Combining events such as the Fair, the Book Market and speaker programme the Living Room, Unseen aspires to provide novel and diverse approaches for engaging with photography. Other key elements of the programme include a major exhibition, the ING Unseen Talent Award and the Unseen Dummy Award.
This year’s Unseen exhibition, Photo Pleasure Palace, is an interactive experience that works with the re-appropriation of images. Its creators, Erik Kessels and Thomas Mailaender, are keen observers of sociological patterns.
Through this exhibition, they have created a quirky and engaging carnival-type location within the Westergasfabriek. It will feature several attractions such as the Photo Fortune Teller, a Smash Gallery, the Giant Peephole, Toilet Obscura, Jump Jump and more, all created to engage visitors with photography in a playful and exploring way.
Unseen is adding new, dynamic and interactive element to its platform in the form of CO-OP, a space exclusively dedicated to the work of cutting-edge artist collectives from all over the world.
CO-OP will take place in the Westergasfabriek, where the Transformatorhuis will be remodelled into a lively social hub where you can explore pioneering works of art and new commercial formats.
Artists such as Miles Aldridge (UK), Nadav Kander (Israel), Douglas Mandry (Switzerland), Ruth van Beek (Netherlands) and Tom Callemin (Belgium) will premiere their latest works at Unseen.
