The Tchaikovsky Ball whisks you away to another century, complete with live orchestral music and period costumes on June 15, 2019, at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam.

Visiting Tchaikovsky

Get to know him and his music. Become part of his life for one day. You probably know some of the works of the famous Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, such as the ballet Swan Lake, or some of his operas or symphonies. Or perhaps you have heard his music in the Disney movies Fantasia and Sleeping Beauty.

On June 15, 2019, you can get to know these and other famous pieces of his in the Marble Hall and the 19th-century rooms of the impressive Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in Amsterdam.

You can take part by getting dressed up as his good friend or neighbour and travelling by horse and carriage to visit Tchaikovsky and his entourage, together with hundreds of contemporaries and dozens of musicians.

Don't miss the Tchaikovsky Ball

  • Dance as he danced.
