See top talents in international news media explore their future at News Xchange in Amsterdam!

The current media landscape is ever fragmenting, and facts are becoming more elusive. Which steps should serious news organisations take, and what are their responsibilities? News Xchange covers these questions and more in an international conference.

Qualitative news in the modern era

The importance of discussing the norms, values and approach of qualitative and independent journalism has reached new heights in the modern era, giving a great sense of urgency and importance to the matters discussed at News Xchange.

The media landscape constantly hardens, disperses and polarises at top speed. Paid news platforms, one-sided news sites and populist social media movements are on the rise, but how do serious media platforms act as a counter movement in the Netherlands and abroad?

Goals

Reaching and involving readers, telling the whole story and presenting the controllable facts with impact and credibility, making sure there is enough diversity and staying relatable, creating a new appreciation for qualitative and serious news - these are goals that News Xchange discusses and strives for.

Representatives from news organisations

More than 600 representatives from international news organisations will get together to discuss the changing future of serious news media.

Critically sustaining free speech, and an open democracy are subjects that will be approached by editor-in-chiefs and leading authors of organisations like CCN, BBC, Al Jazeera, AP, Bloomberg News, Reuters, Facebook, Google and Twitter.

Line-up

More than 50 top speakers from various corners of the field of international news media form an impressive line-up and elaborate on new, unsettling developments that they have been dealing with, and how they need to be solved.

Speakers include:

  • Julie Pace, Associated Press (AP) Bureau Chief, Washington DC
  • Margarita Simonyan, RT (formerly Russia Today) Editor-in-Chief, Moskou
  • Campbell Brown, Facebook head of News Partnerships
  • Brian Stelter, CNN Senior Media Correspondent
  • Peter Greenberger, Twitter Global head of News
  • Jacqueline Simmons, Bloomberg News Executive Editor of Global Business
