Get freaky in the museums of The Hague!
During The Hague Museum Night, the city's museums will open up between 8pm and 1am. Around 40 artistic venues in The Hague will be offering a special night programme, inspired by their collections and exhibitions, with special workshops, music and theatre.
The theme for the 2017 Museum Night is "Freak Like Me”, inspiring participating museums to explore the freaky and bizarre.
Here is a short selection of participating museums, and what they will offer:
Dive into a bizarre period of M.C. Escher’s life with "King of Psychedelics", an exhibit about how hippies and funkadelics adopted his prints, that had a powerful effect when on LSD, and used them in all kinds of freaky ways.
Roll to the tunes of a DJ at a real roller disco!
A high-energy electro /dance act brings the beats, and BLUSH pays homage to David Bowie.
Discover the freaky history of this medieval prison, and have your own mugshot taken in the selfie box.
Have your freakiest warped reflection photographed, bring an item to be preserved in formaldehyde and experience a carnival complete with funhouse mirrors, soothsayers and a tarot bar.
Escape the box is a compact Mauritshuis-style escape room with ingenious games containing puzzles, sound fragments and more.
Have a tattoo artist place a fully improvised tattoo, you just don’t know what it will be until it’s done.
Go on a speed dating session with a brave night or fair maiden, and discover the secrets of a medieval courtship.
Theatre, photography and freaks come together in the PhotoFreak corner, where you can take a picture with a freaky costume and strange accessories.
