In this Italian baroque concert, listen to the pure beauty of Stabat Mater by Pergolesi and the exciting vigour of Gloria by Vivaldi. Two internationally renowned soloists will bring this to audiences in three superb venues in the Netherlands.
The voices of Siberian soprano Olga Zinovieva and Dutch countertenor Sytse Buwalda offer a wide spectrum of emotions and guarantee a sophisticated implementation of this intimate composition. Buwalda provides enormous empathy in Stabat Mater, the story about the grief of Holy Mary, with his unique velvet sound.
During this concert, the musicians and singers from the Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands will perform Vivaldi's Gloria: fast and cheerful parts will be interspersed by slow, solemn passages. The whole programme will be conducted in a special, inspiring way by Pieter Jan Leusink.

Conducted by Pieter Jan Leusink, The Bach Choir and Orchestra of the Netherlands regularly performs many of the mainstays of the Baroque repertoire, such as the Bach Passions, Handel’s Messiah and Vivaldi’s Gloria. Pieter Jan Leusink is a Dutch conductor, specialised in the music of Bach, Handel, Mozart, Faure and Vivaldi. He has made some critically-acclaimed recordings and in 2004 he was honoured with the Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion.
