This year's Grolsch Summer Sounds editions

The sheer range of musical styles is astounding and there’s something for everyone. Here are the unmissable open-air events to look out for:

July 18: Bölke Open Air  

The Grolsch Summer Sounds kicks off with its rainbow disco, the Bölke Open Air spectacle with drag queens and dancers, making it the unofficial Gay Pride of the Eastern Netherlands. Bölke is the name of one of the most famous clubs in Enschede, so this is a special time of year where the legendary club takes to the streets.

July 20: Remember the Time 

Remember the Time is the Saturday night edition of the Grolsch Summer Sounds. A combination of old and new R&B and hip hop sounds can be heard this evening and, of course, big names are featured in the line-up.

July 25: Rico XL 

Rico XL involves alluring salsa dancing to sultry Latin live sounds. Hundreds of salsa-lovers will dominate the special pop-up dance floors on the Oude Markt. Even the inexperienced dancer will find it hard to stand still, what with the swinging beats that will be performed.

August 1: Vrieler NL

After all the dancing and swinging, it's time for Dutch songs. Ballads, up-tempo songs and the Dutch levensliederen and smartlappen will be played by various artists. You can sing along with songs in Dutch – a great way to practice your language skills. Ballads and songs will get you in a cheerful mood and you'll be sure to get an insight into how locals like to party.

August 8: Blues night 

Attention blues lovers! During this Grolsch Summer Sounds edition, you can enjoy blues and other types of music.

August 15: Enschede Rocks 

The Grolsch Summer Sounds are not complete without a genuine rock night out. Enschede Rocks is characterised by the wonderful sound of guitars and provides a varied programme for the evening. The line-up includes a special guest, which is soon to be announced, as well as the bands Money & The Man and Stones Sessions
