About the play, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

R.P. McMurphy thinks she has played the system by accepting admittance to a mental institution instead of a prison sentence. Her swagger and seeming invincibility stir a fire in the other patients that the controlling nurse Ratched thought she had extinguished long ago. A clash of titans ensues, all witnessed through the eyes of the delusional Chief Bromden.

English Theatre Utrecht’s version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a unique creation. The company welcomes all nationalities and takes liberties in assigning characters to specific genders. The result is a diverse and interesting mix of actors who freely explore their skills.
