It takes a mere 12 hours of training to become First Aid qualified - but only 3% of the Dutch population is trained to know what to do in case of a medical emergency. The Amsterdam Red Cross will be running its first English-language course this September. This means that language will no longer be a barrier for anyone wanting to learn life-saving skills in this city. The qualification will be valid across all European countries. There is also a 20-hour course on offer for those who want to earn a First Aid Extended Certificate.

The basic class will teach participants how to help in case of:

  • Heart attack (CPR)
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Skin wounds
  • Burns
  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
  • Neck and spine injuries
  • Intoxication
  • Chest pain
  • Stroke

Notes

The costs cover all necessary training material. The course has limited places, and allocation will be done on a first come first served basis. For more information, click here.
