After having the rainiest first half of the year ever recorded, the Netherlands deserves some sunshine - and we’re finally going to get some! Temperatures are rising across the country this week and are set to get downright tropical with highs of 32 degrees celsius on Saturday.
Summer weather to last for a few days in the Netherlands
Starting on Thursday, July 18, you may notice that the weather in the Netherlands is uncharacteristically warm and dry. According to Weeronline, temperatures will reach 23 to 25 degrees celsius in northern areas such as Groningen, and up to a balmy 27 degrees for the rest of the country. While there may be some cloud cover, you can leave your raincoat at home as no rain is expected.
Things will continue to heat up as it gets closer to the weekend with Friday temperatures reaching a summery 28 to 29 degrees for inland cities such as Amsterdam and up to 31 degrees in the southeast of the country.
You’ll want to plan a visit to a swimming pool, lake or beach this weekend, as Saturday will see the mercury rise to a sultry 30 to 32 degrees celsius throughout the Netherlands. The evening won’t give you much relief from the heat either, as nighttime temperatures are not expected to drop below 18 degrees.
Typical Dutch weather continues from Sunday
After a few days of tropical bliss, the Dutch weather will return to its regularly scheduled programming on Sunday. Rain and thunderstorms will wash away the heat, with temperatures of 21 to 24 degrees predicted. Changeable weather is expected to continue into the next week.
In the week of July 22, the weather will cycle between spots of rain and sunshine and reach moderate temperatures of between 19 and 23 degrees.
