Nominations for the Human Rights Defenders Tulip, the Dutch government’s human rights award, are now open.

Until June 15, anyone can nominate individuals (not organisations) who defend human rights anywhere in the world by filling the online form (English, Spanish, French and Dutch).

The one who "has shown particular courage in protecting and promoting the rights of his / her fellow citizens" will be chosen by an independent jury and awarded by the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs in December.

Apart from recognition, visibility and a bronze statuette, funding for a human rights project as well as a European tour to meet relevant stakeholders are also possible.
